Duck Calling Contest A Great Success
Katy, Texas. Newell Cheatheam, President of Newell’s Designs www.newellsdesigns.com , member of Delta Waterfowl and a Katy resident for 30 years, and the contest calling chairman for Texas State Championship Duck Calling Contest www.texasstateduckcallingcontest.com for 7 years announces Andy Barnett of Centerville, Texas won the Texas State on May 19th. Barnett won $2000.00 cash and a first place granite trophy as Texas State champion caller. Barnett calling contest championships are 2003 and 2002 Texas State Duck Calling Contest and 1998 Intermediate World’s Championship Duck Calling Contest and runner-up in numerous other duck calling contests. Texas State Second place champion caller was Kevin Borowski of Houston, Texas and third place champion caller was Brian Hand of College Station, Texas. Barnett will represent Texas in the World’s Championship Duck Calling Contest www.stuttgartarkansas.com November 2007, Thanksgiving weekend against other contestants from all over the nation.
The five judges for the Texas State Championship Duck Calling Contest were the Who’s Who of champion duck callers and some of the best in the nation. Jim Ronquest, of Holly Grove, ARK, a judge is Director of Public Relations and RNT TV for Rich-N-Tone Calls, Inc. Ronquest is the 2006 World’s Championship Duck Calling Contest Champion along with 7 other sanctioned championship calling contest. Robb Watts of Beebe, ARK, a judge, is national sales director of Echo Calls, has placed in the top ten of the World’s Championship Duck Calling Contest in the past 9 years. Including World’s Championship Duck Calling Contests - 1997 3rd runner-up, 1998 4th runner up, 1998 9th runner up, 2000 10th runner up, 2004 910th runner up, 2005 9th runner up.
